Martha Louise “Sissy” Roche, 94 years old, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Breese’s Personal Care Home, Claysville, where she had resided for the past 6 years. She was the daughter of the deceased John D. Roche and Alice Caroline L. Roche.
She was preceded in death by her brother, John L. Roche, and nephew, Robert Kendall Roche.
Sissy helped work the family farm with her brother and father until 1968. She Graduated from Trinity High School in 1937 and worked at Montgomery Wards until she retired. She drove school bus for a number of years for McGuffey School district. Sissy enjoyed her bowling league, and she loved teaching Sunday school at Liberty Methodist Church her whole life. She enjoyed traveling with her life-long friend Ann Zanolli and family. She also volunteered for a number of years at the Washington County Health Center.
Sissy is survived by her three nephews, John Allen, Donald Richard, and Barry Paul Roche, along with 8 great-nieces and nephews and 6 great-great nieces and nephews. She was so full of life and energy; she truly enjoyed every second of her life. She was loved and will be deeply missed by many.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 23rd, in Washington Cemetery. Those attending the service are to meet at the cemetery office.
