Rupert Alois Schmitt

Rupert Alois Schmitt, 72 of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Allegheny General Hospital. He was born August 24, 1942 in Augsburg, Germany, the son of the late Alois Schmitt and Else Fischer Schmitt. Rupert was a computer engineer both in software and hardware for Draegar Safety, Inc for many years. He enjoyed swimming, computers, watching movies and was a proud member of Mensa. Rupert loved his family and his dog Becca. On May 19, 1969 he married Ilona Katharina Müller who survives. Also surviving are a son, Oliver (Deana) Schmitt of Canonsburg; a brother, Loisel (Angie) Schmitt of Bobingen Germany; four grandchildren, Noah, Collin, Tyler and Brayden, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m., the time of service on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington.
