Robert Lawrence Loar, 87, of Washington, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015, in Presbyterian Senior Care.
He was born November 4, 1927, in Butte, Montana, a son of Albert Lawrence Loar and Nell McGahn Loar.
Mr. Loar graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, attended the University of Pittsburgh, and served in the Navy. He worked as en electrician at McGraw-Edison in Canonsburg.
Mr. Loar was an avid golfer, enjoyed the outdoors, and was a fan of the Steelers and Pirates. When younger, he coached football and baseball.
Mr. Loar was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
On February 18, 1950, he married Vivian Verderber, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, David Loar (Melody) of Nederland, Colorado; a daughter, Leslie Loar of Washington; one grandchild, Thadius Loar; and a great-grandchild, Norah Loar.
Deceased is a sister, Dolores Zwick.
Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. till 1 p.m., the time of service, on Saturday, September 26th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
