James Francis Caton, Sr., 87, of West Alexander, died Monday, June 20, 2016, in Washington County Health Center.
He was born January 19, 1929, in Washington, a son of the late Charles C. and Lulu Huffman Caton.
Mr. Caton served as an airman in the Navy from September 1, 1948, until his honorable discharge on August 21, 1952.
When he worked as an auto body technician, he was regarded as the best auto body person in Washington. Additionally, he worked as a guard at Washington County Correctional Facility, as a bus driver for D&W Bus Company, and as an assistant at a garden center in Florida.
On June 14, 1975, he married Barbara A. Deyell, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, James F. (Janet) Caton, Jr. of Adah; a daughter, Rebecca Ann (James) Pansiski of Morgantown, West Virginia; a stepson, Martin (Kris) Cottrill of Bethel Park; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Ann Cottrill of Washington; one sister, Margaret Ann “Peggy” Smith of Laport; four grandchildren, Jason Verno, Nikki (Patrick) Cockey, Katie Cottrill and Aliya Cottrill; and a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Cockey.
Deceased are a son, James Bradley Caton; a granddaughter, Dawn Loughman; one brother, Charles C. Caton; three sisters, Mary Agnes Kunselman, Emogene DeNormandy and Florence Ellen Ellwood.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 25th, with Pastor Sue Petritis of Gateway Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in West Alexander Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
