Richard W. Sprowls, 80 of Washington, died Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Donnell House.
He was born September 24, 1935 in Washington, the son of the late Gordon Sprowls and Helen Klenzing Sprowls.
Richard was a graduate of Trinity High School and took some college classes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during peace time.
Mr. Sprowls was a self-employed private detective.
He was a member of Friendship Community Church and the Meadows Track Chapel.
Richard was a Steeler fanatic and loved the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. He owned horses at the Meadows, “Cowboy Express" and "Blossom Express". He also raced motorcycles in his younger days.
On August 15, 1964 he married Bertie Grace Wilson, who died July 21, 2003.
Surviving are a son, Erik Jon (Jodi Reichart) Sprowls of Washington; a sister, Judy (Ray) Sprowls of Washington and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, Gordon A. Sprowls.
Friends will be received Monday, September 19, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd. 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
