Eugene David “Bus” Cox, 86, of Washington, died Tuesday, September 14, 2010, in Humbert Lane Health Care Center.
He was born July 11, 1924, in Amity, a son of James Benjamin and Deborah Gump Cox.
Mr. Cox worked as a shipper at Brockway Glass #7 for 33 years. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving from March 30, 1943, until his honorable discharge on January 18, 1946, as a Technician, fifth grade.
Mr. Cox attended St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of Anawanna Hunting and Fishing Club and the L.O.O. M. 22 and a former member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
Mr. Cox enjoyed playing cards, watching the Steelers, and traveling to Ohio to see his great-grandchildren and especially enjoyed gardening with his great-grandson.
On May 6, 1950, he married Catherine Elizabeth Flinn, who died October 29, 2007.
Surviving are a son, John R. (Kate) Ullom of Washington; a brother, Raymond Cox of Amity; a granddaughter, Teresa L. Forbes; and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are 11 brothers and sisters, Arthur W., Paul L., Donald R., James H., Robert E., and John K. Cox, Lucille Florence Fitzwilliams, Helen Marie Cox, Frances Cox, Lillian Bedillion and Margaret Shoup.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 17th, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, with Father Thomas O’Neil as celebrant. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. The Loyal Order of Moose will hold services in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Glenn Street Free Methodist Church, 690 Glenn Street, Washington, PA 15301.
