Carol Dju Cheng, 81, of Washington, died Thursday, August 5, 2010, in her home. Her wish was to pass away at home, surrounded by her family.
She was born November 14, 1928, in China, a daughter of Zhu Tso-Quan and Zhu Li-Yen.
Mrs. Cheng held a Master’s Degree and was a registered dietician, interning at Massachusetts General and Harvard University.
Mrs. Cheng was Director of Nutritional Services at Woodville State Hospital for twenty-five years.
She was a member of Christian Taost, the Chinese American Association, and American Dietician Association.
Mrs. Cheng enjoyed giving generously to others through various organizations.
She also enjoyed Chinese opera, singing and dancing.
On June 23, 1962, she married Dr. Lung Cheng, who died January 10, 2005.
Surviving are a daughter, Lilie (Lee) Maurer, and her son-in-law, Anthony, whom she loved and admired; two brothers, one living in main-land China, and one in Taiwan; a sister, who lives in the state of California; three grandchildren, Destiny, Toni, and Samantha; and a beloved niece, Meruia (Mary Fatuan) Yu, who was always at her side.
Friends will be received Saturday, August 7, 2010, from 2 to 4:30 p.m., the hour of the service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
