Thomas Robert Dittman, 65, of Amity, died on Monday, August 9, 2010, at the Washington Hospital, after a 2-month illness.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on October 26, 1944, a son of Jerome J. and Rella Grooms Dittman.
Mr. Dittman worked for the Union Railroad for 37 years as a supervisor. He had also worked at Petsmart for 3 years.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
He was past President of the Ten Mile Valley Youth Baseball and McGuffey Youth Football.
Thomas was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed all animals, especially turtles.
On July 4, 1995, he married Deborah Daley, who survives.
Also surviving are 3 sons, Chad (Carla) Dittman, of East Finley; Frank (Kelly) McAdams and Jonathan McAdams, both of Amity; 2 daughters, Erika (Charles) Minch, of West Alexander and Candace (Daniel) Anderson, of Washington; 2 brothers, Jerome J. (Helen) Dittman, Jr., of Hagerstown and James F. (Joan B.) Dittman, of West Mifflin, PA; 5 grandchildren, Alexis and Kaitlyn Minch; Nickolas and Tyler McAdams and Dylan Stein; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Rev. Bernard Dittman and a grandchild, Logan Minch.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA., where a Blessing Service will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will follow at a later date in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
