Lois Jean Cowden

Lois Jean Cowden, 87, of Hickory, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, in Washington County Health Center, following a brief illness. She was born April 22, 1922, in Canonsburg, a daughter of William Woods Gladden and Mary Peacock Gladden. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, flowers, and being with her grandchildren. On November 1, 1941, she married Joseph A. Cowden, Jr., who died September 7, 1994. Surviving are a son, Joseph A. Cowden, III, of Altoona; a daughter, Donna (Harold) Coffield of Hickory; a grandson, Kevin Cowden; two granddaughters, Samantha Coffield and Nicole Coffield; and a great-grandson, Izayah McMasters. Deceased is a brother, William Gladden. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., Washington.
