Marcella Morgan Gantz

Marcella E. Morgan Gantz, 87, of Wheeling, West Virginia, formerly of Washington, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, in Wheeling Hospital. She was born January 31, 1923, in Horning, Pennsylvania, daughter of Stephen Isaac and Susan Wisneski Morgan. Mrs. Gantz was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Washington. Retiring from Citizens Library in 1990, she enjoyed volunteering at the library after her retirement. Mrs. Gantz was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and being with her grandchildren. On August 1, 1946, she married Wade Wendell Gantz, Sr., who died August 14, 1996. Surviving are a son, Harry H. (Annette) Gantz, of Wheeling; a daughter, Lynn (David) Kaufman of Cherry Log, Georgia; a sister, Mercedes Sterling of Lafayette, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Harrison, Morgan, Nolan and Isaac Gantz and Angela (Kevin) Pearl; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Alice; a sister-in-law, Marie Morgan of South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are Vera Morgan, who raised her; two sons, Wade W. Gantz, Jr. and Michael Gantz, who died as an infant; a brother, Stephen Morgan; and a sister, Patty Haney. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 11th, with Morgan Gantz officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Pine Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Citizens Library, 55 S. College Street, Washington, PA 15301; or to Immaculate Conception Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington PA 15301.
