Frank Kopcha, 92, died August 30, 2010, following a brief illness.
He was born May 3, 1918, in Bentleyville, a son of Theodore and Anna Stefura Kopcha.
Mr. Kopcha served in the US Army, 133rd Infantry, 34th Division, during World War II. He was involved in battles in Rome-Arno, Northern Apennines and Po Valley. For his service he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with three bronze service stars.
In addition to being a truck driver, Mr. Kopcha owned Frankie’s Amusement Company and East Coast Shows for 24 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a member and past president of Holy Trinity National Catholic Church and a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, Polish Club and the Showman’s Legion.
Mr. Kopcha enjoyed hunting and was a life-long Steelers fan.
On June 27, 1948, he married Helen Chmiel who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Dennis (Linda) Kopcha of Canonsburg; a daughter, Diane (Mark) Katlic of Shavertown; and four grandchildren, Scott Kopcha of Watertown, Massachusetts, Erica Kopcha of Huntingdon Valley, and Adam and Katherine Katlic, both of Shavertown; and three sisters, Helen Simonelli, Ann Ryzon and Mary Parschall.
Deceased is a brother, Michael Kopcha.
Friends will be received Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m., in Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, Washington. Following visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church with Bishop John Mack as celebrant.
