Elaine Renee Sprowls Majer Devoted mother and grandmother. Elaine Renee Sprowls Majer, 85, of Washington, died at 8:55 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006, in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness. She was born May 11, 1921, in Washington, a daughter of Howard and Josephine Crossland Sprowls. Mrs. Majer was a homemaker and a graduate of Washington High School. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. On February 23, 1965, she married Vincent John Patrick Majer, who died August 3, 1988. Surviving are a son, Edward Syreck of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two daughters, Jo Elaine Gray of Loris, S.C., and Cheryll VanKirk of Amity; seven grandchildren, Mel, Brian and Sheri Gray, Robert and Randy VanKirk and Edward and Tim Syreck; and several great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of services, Wednesday, September 6, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Nathan Miller officiating. Interment will be in Washington Cemetery.
