Lucille Elsie Ackley, 95, of Washington, died Thursday, November 25, 2010, in Kade Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 20, 1915, in Cameron, West Virginia, a daughter of Bessie Breese Eckles Hampe. She was raised by her mother and her step-father, Nicholas Hampe.
Mrs. Ackley was a sales clerk at J.C. Penney for many years then worked as a seamstress for Betty Gay Co.
She enjoyed sewing, baking and playing dart ball.
Mrs. Ackley was a member of Avery United Methodist Church and attended Laboratory Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of South Strabane Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
On March 7, 1969, she married Allen Foster Ackley, who died November 30, 1997.
Surviving are a son, David E. Alrutz of Claysville; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Robert, Sherry, Mark, Rebecca, Michele, William, Amanda and Stephanie; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, Robert Marshman and William Burke; two grandchildren, Thomas Marshman and Gary Marshman; a sister, Fern Hughes; and a brother, Manford Breese.
Friends will be received Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 28th, with Robert Marshman officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to South Strabane Volunteer Fire Department, 172 Oak Spring Road, Washington, PA 15301.
