Nela Marie Manning, 89, of Washington, died Friday, November 26, 2010, in Allegheny General Hospital.
She was born April 15, 1921, in Charleroi, a daughter of Olin and Zernie Teter Harper.
Mrs. Manning was a 1939 graduate of Charleroi High School. For 34 years she worked as a buyer for Lang’s.
Mrs. Manning was a member of First United Methodist Church in Washington and a member of its Faithful Followers Class, and a member of Beta Phi Sorority – Tau Master of Pennsylvania. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking and baking. Mrs. Manning was instrumental in compiling the Harper family genealogy and was very compassionate toward animals.
On November 18, 1967, she married Alexander H. Manning, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Karen (Frank) Hinerman of Bethel Park; four grandchildren, Deanne Hinerman, Julie Hinerman Meechan, Adam Dey and Brenton Dey; a great-grandchild, Jax Harper Dey and daughter-in-law, Bernadette K. Jacubek Dey of Heath, Ohio.
Deceased are a son, Chester H. Dey; and a brother, Howard B. Harper.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 30th with Rev. Keith Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
