Joyce Ann Rodgers Glendenning, 70, of California, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010, in Donnell House, following two debilitating strokes. She was born September 24, 1940, in Canonsburg, a daughter of William and Margaret Gladstone Rodgers. Joyce was known for her “creative fingernails” when she was a cashier at Foodland, where she worked for 15 years. She went on to work as a nursing assistant at Washington County Health Center, from where she retired. Joyce enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are a son, John M. Glendenning of Florida; two daughters, Holly (Salvador) Bruno of Canonsburg and Talara (Tom) Robinson of Washington; a brother, David Rodgers of Connecticut; a sister, Martha (Larry) Kovalik of McDonald; seven grandchildren, Rhiannon Main, Nikki and Chelsie Robinson, Shaina, Sierra, Taylor and Ashton Glendenning; eight great-grandchildren, Timothy, Ariadee, Juliauna, Jerrin, Anthony, Soryn, Laphyn and Maliyah; and her former husband, John N. Glendenning. Deceased are a son, Shawndel Glendenning; and a sister, Marjorie Rice. Friends will be received Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 13th. Burial will follow Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
