Lewis Quinn Ashmore, 78, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2010, surrounded by his family. Lew was a lifelong resident of Washington, Pennsylvania and served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He retired in 1993 from Jessop Steel Company after 34 years of service. His joys included hunting, fishing and cooking Sunday dinners for his family. He was a member of the Alpine, Polish, and Slovak social clubs.
Surviving is his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Jane. Also surviving are his sisters, Freda (Barton) Massey of Midway, PA and Hilda Carter of Greensboro, NC; sons Lewis (Deborah) of Raleigh, NC, Brian of Washington, Kenneth (Holly) of Washington; grandchildren, Michael Ashmore of Raleigh, NC, Toni Tarnik of Washington, Faith (Tyler) Hamm of Colorado Springs, CO, Kenneth Ashmore, Jr. of Washington, Stephanie Ashmore of Washington, and Danielle Ashmore of Washington.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 17th from 2PM to 5PM and 7PM to 9PM in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a Blessing Service will be held Thursday, November 18, at 10 a.m., with Father Thomas D. O'Neil officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
