Richard LaVern Moss, 79, of Washington, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010, in Canonsburg Hospital. He was born March 2, 1931, in Bentleyville, a son of Clyde H. and Isabelle Bush Moss. Mr. Moss served in the United States Army from August 31, 1948, until his honorable discharge on March 23, 1951, as a Private, first class. For 50 years, he was a heavy equipment operator for Local 66 and Teamsters 341. Mr. Moss was a member of American Legion Post 400 in Carmichaels, Jessop Club and L.O.O.M. He will be missed by his dog and loyal companion, Gypsy. On July 15, 1977, he married Delphine Mae Roberts, who survives. Also surviving are a son, William (Kathy) Roberts of Scenery Hill; three daughters, Paula (Michael) Heise of Washington, Cathy (Ed) Hartner and Nanette (Larry) McNeal, both of Erie; a sister, Bessie Harrison of Pittsburgh; 13 grandchildren, Justin Truby, Ryan Truby, Nicole Policano, Meghan McNeal, Danelle Longley, Jeremiah Roberts, Joshua Roberts, Dominick Valduga, Caleb Valduga, Scott Hartner, Steven (Holly) Hartner and Tim (Nicole) Hartner; and 10 great-grandchildren, Madison, Alex, Emma, Trevor, Tyler, Nathan, Kya, Cohen, Benton and Dritan; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a brother, Eugene Moss.
