Edith Cavell Martin

Edith Cavell Martin, 93, of Washington, died Saturday, May 15, 2010, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care. She was born April 23, 1917, in Washington, a daughter of Anthony and Bessie Schibbler McCartney. Mrs. Martin worked in the house service department of Bell Telephone for 27 � years. She was a member of First Christian Church and a ten-year member of Bell of Pennsylvania�s Pioneer Club. Mrs. Martin enjoyed traveling. On February 11, 1935, she married Joseph Martin, who died November 11, 1985. Surviving are two sons, Thomas E. Martin, of Marianna, and Kenneth Martin, of Sebastian, Florida; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren. Deceased are a daughter, Janice Putran; four brothers, William, James, Johnny and Anthony McCartney; and six sisters, Barbara Duncan, Helen Maltony, Viola Donahue, Jessie Horr, Josephine White, and Mary McCartney. Friends will be received 3 to 9 p.m., Monday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, May 18, 2010, in the chapel at Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery, McMurray.
