Norman Leroy “Sam” Shrader, 63, of Amity, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, in Donnell House.
He was born October 20, 1946, in Washington, a son of John Leroy “Bus” Shrader and Thelma Snyder Shrader.
Mr. Shrader was a truck driver for Signal Delivery Company for 20 years, a handyman for Opal Winnett, and most recently Co-Supervisor/Driver for the Observer-Reporter.
On June 25, 1967, he married Connie Bedillion, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Norman L. “Bates” (Leatha) Shrader, Jr. of Washington and Raymond L. (Deana) Shrader of Greensboro; one daughter, Kimberly Redd of Amity; five sisters, Caroline (Herschell) Chadwick and Thelma (Oliver) Chadwick, both of Prosperity, Darla (Michael) Miller, Janet Wade and Laura (Don) Ealy, all of Washington; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Deceased are two sisters, Katherine Wade and Sandra Bitz.
He also leaves behind his two furry companions, Daisy Mae and Penny Ann.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 28th, in Church of Christ, 700 Allison Avenue, Washington. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
