Alberta L. Hurley, 96, of Washington, formerly of Wadestown, West Virginia, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, in Kade Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born October 25, 1913, in Amity, a daughter of William L. and Isa Catherine Dille Bamberger.
Mrs. Hurley graduated from Morris Township High School in Prosperity and also from Penn Commercial.
During World War II, she worked as a welder�s assistant. Prior to working for 15 years at G.C. Murphy Co. on Main Street, she worked as a waitress at the bus terminal in Washington.
Mrs. Hurley was a member of Glyde Lutheran Church and formerly attended Washington Senior Citizens Center.
On January 11, 1936, she married Michael William Hurley, who died October 16, 1977.
Surviving are five grandchildren, Valerie Denese Conaway of Wadestown, West Virginia, who along with her husband, Dave, and their children, were her caregivers for many years, Lisa A. Huffine of Fredericktown, Yvonne L. (Russell Farkas) Harmon of Spraggs, John L. Harmon of Ten Mile and Willard "Buzz" (Sherry) Harmon of Crucible; 18 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanette Sanders.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, who lovingly referred to her as "Aunt Bert."
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are her only daughter, Patricia Catherine Harmon; three brothers, Arthur D. Bamberger, Lee W. Bamberger, and Reed F. Bamberger; and two grandsons, Michael C. Harmon and a grandson who died in infancy.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Church of Christ, 700 Allison Avenue, Washington. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
