Shirley Mae Kinder Lawrence, 77, of Washington, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 28, 2010.
She was born January 27, 1933, in Washington, a daughter of the late Sharon S. Kinder and Faith White Kinder.
Shirley married William P. Lawrence, surviving, on September 26, 1953 in the Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church, in which she was a life long member.
She was a choir member with the church for over 60 years, held many positions within the church and within the United Methodist Women's group there.
She loved working in her beautiful flower and rose gardens, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and all of her wonderful friends she made over a lifetime.
She was a graduate of Trinity High School, Washington, PA, class of 1951 and Penn Commercial, 1952.
She was employed at B. F. Drakenfeld and also at Fairmont Supply.
Also surviving are two children; Dr. Steven Lawrence and wife Denise Damian Lawrence of Denver, CO, and Keith Lawrence and wife Denise Hensler Lawrence of McMurray, PA; three grandchildren include Ryan Damian of Denver, CO, Sean and Michael Lawrence of McMurray, PA; niece Janice Killen Baker and husband Frank Baker of Washington, PA and grand niece Dr. Janna Baker Rogers and husband Robert Rogers of Arlington, VA and Julie Baker Dickinson and husband Tom Dickinson of East Hampton, CT.
Deceased are sisters, Mary Etta Kinder Killen and Lois Ann Kinder.
Friends will be received in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at 1:00 pm. with the Rev. John Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
