Byron F. “Jeff” Betts, Jr., 60, of Prosperity, formerly of Akron, Ohio, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, in his residence, following a lengthy illness.
He was born August 1, 1949, in Akron, Ohio, a son of Byron F. Betts, Sr. and Mildred Merrill Betts.
For 40 years, he worked with CNC milling equipment as a field service technician.
Mr. Betts was Catholic by faith.
He proudly volunteered as a fireman and EMT, and often volunteered his time and expertise in electronics to the community. Mr. Betts was a technology enthusiast, had a passion for music, and enjoyed deejaying, boating and watching Western movies.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane C. Makowski Betts, whom he married May 22, 1996.
Also surviving are a stepdaughter, Lisa (Calvin) Henry of Prosperity; a step-son, Brian C. Bernard; and three grandchildren, Brian D. Bernard, Aleka Bernard and Alexandra Henry.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 30th, in Prosperity Cemetery, with Pastor Larry Deemer officiating.
