Shirley Jean Ringer, 75, of Washington, died on Sunday, June 27, 2010, at the Washington Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
She was born on May 20, 1935, in Washington, a daughter of the late James W. Sr., and Edith Pearl Hayes Prosser.
Shirley was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church, Pulaski Club, Slovak Club, the VFW and the Moose. She was a homemaker who enjoyed playing bingo, dancing, country music, the outdoors, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are 3 sons, Ronald Ringer, of Washington; Melvin Ringer, of Claysville and Harry Ringer, of Taylorstown; 2 daughters, Dolores Bell, of Claysville and Betty Farson, of East Finley; a brother, James Prosser, Jr, of Washington; 3 sisters, Lauretta Dillie, of Prosperity; Betty Anderson and Violet Keener, both of Washington; 17 grandchildren, and 34 great grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Melvin L. Ringer, Jr., a daughter, Deb Ringer and 3 grandchildren, Christian Ringer, Scott Holmes and Andrea Langham.
Friends will be received on Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2010, with Pastor Larry Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
