Minnie Virginia Ott Ashbrook, 103, of Hickory, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at
the Washington County Health Center.
She was born April 5, 1907 in Swart Station Greene County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Jacob Sanford (Sande) and Sarah Billetter (Sadie) Ott and was their only child.
Mrs. Ashbrook was a homemaker.
She attended school in Greene and Washington Counties, and was a member of Mt. Prospect United Presbyterian Church, and the Washington Senior Citizens.
Minnie loved to Square Dance, take pictures, collect salt and pepper shakers, make quilts, crocheting, visit covered bridges, take road trips, and visit with family and friends.
On January 14, 1923, in Washington, PA, she married Glenn Reed Ashbrook, who died on May 28, 1976.
They lived in Hickory most of the 53 years they were married and had four
Children, Dale Ashbrook McGowan of Buckhannon WV, and Lance (Jiggs) Ashbrook of Rockville MD; and the late Merle (Bud) Ashbrook and Leora Ashbrook McGowan.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 27 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden St., Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2010, with the Rev. R. Douglas Reinard officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray, PA.
