A. Duane Taggart, 67, of Washington, died at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2006, in Kindred Hospital, following an eight-week illness.
He was born April 30, 1939, in Washington, a son of Alvin T. and Wilda Allison Taggart.
He was a self-employed, retired food vendor. He was a member of North Buffalo Presbyterian Church, Sunset Lodge 623 F&AM and B.P.O.E. 776. He had been an organist for more than 30 years at various Presbyterian churches. He was an elder at North Buffalo and Upper Buffalo Presbyterian churches.
He was a 1957 graduate of Trinity High School. He enjoyed playing cards.
On October 28, 1960, he married Shirley Gamble, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Mark and his wife, Beth Taggart of Washington and John and his wife, Cathy Taggart of Hickory; a daughter, Sandra and her husband, John Danna of West Alexander; two brothers, Eugene and his wife, Eleanor Taggart of Cross Creek and Halden "Bud" and his wife, Robbie of Hickory; his mother-in-law, Esther Gamble of Washington; his sister-in-law, Mary Lib Taggart of Streetsboro, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Darrene, Cassie, Faith, Brittany and Brandon Taggart and Coleman and Tori Danna.
Deceased are a sister, Floradale Taggart Gray; and a brother, Roland Taggart.
Friends will be received by the family from 1 to 8 p.m., the time of service, Friday, August 4, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Gary Gibson and the Rev. John Mark Scott officiating. Interment will be held in West Middletown Cemetery.
