Genevieve Aliene Murray, 87, of Washington, formerly of Eighty-Four, died Sunday, June 20, 2010, in Washington Hospital. She had been in declining health for the past three years.
She was born February 26, 1923, in Greene County, a daughter of Albert and Vada Lemley Headley.
Mrs. Murray graduated from Trinity High School and Canonsburg Hospital School of Nursing. In addition to being a private duty nurse, she worked as an industrial nurse at RCA Corporation for five years as well as a nurse at the Presbyterian Home.
She enjoyed traveling throughout the country in a motor home and spending winters in Bradenton, Florida.
Mrs. Murray was a life-long member of Pigeon Creek Church and was a 50-year member of Martha B. Paul Order of Eastern Star.
On September 14, 1947, she married W. Maynard Murray, who died June 7, 2001.
Surviving are a son, Dennis (Peggy) Murray of Cape May Court House, NJ; three daughters, Kathleen (John) Kornick of Cape May Court House, Patricia Augier of Canonsburg, and Debra (David) Knowlson of Amity; a sister, Jane Ahwesh of Bradenton, Florida; eight grandchildren, Carrie A. Conko, John W. Kornick, Megan E. Tosto, Bernard P. Augier, Hillary L. Martin, Julie A. Earlywine, Lauren A. Murray and William J. Murray; and four great-grandchildren, David Tosto, Jackson Conko, Reagan Kornick and Alexander Martin.
Deceased is a brother, James Headley.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24th. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
