Charles Clinton Fleming, Sr., 71, of Washington, died Saturday, February 20, 2010, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born November 11, 1938, in Vaden, Mississippi, a son of York and Millie Harris Fleming.
Mr. Fleming served in the United States Army from January 1962, until his honorable discharge in December 1963, with a rank of Private First Class.
Mr. Fleming retired as a supervisor at Abex Corporation after 40 years of service.
He was a handyman and enjoyed gardening and yard work.
Mr. Fleming loved his grandchildren and spending time with them.
On July 7, 1980, he married Georgia Sheppard, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Charles Fleming, Jr. and Steven Fleming, both of Washington, and Clarence Fleming of Chicago; two daughters, Sharon Fleming of Chicago and Crystal Fleming of Brooklyn, New York; and two grandchildren, Jacob and Ciarra Fleming.
Deceased are two brothers, James and Willie Fleming.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be private.
