Margarete Waltraud Maloy, 81, of Washington, died Thursday, February 25, 2010, in Washington Hospital.
She was born September 20, 1928, in Stettin, Germany, a daughter of Ernst and Margaret Kopplin Damerow.
Mrs. Maloy worked at RCA in Meadow Lands for 28 years and JCPenney for 17 years.
She was a member of Church of the Covenant, Ladies of the Elks and Overseas Club.
Mrs. Maloy and her late husband enjoyed traveling to Texas. She also enjoyed people, especially children, and being involved with the sweetheart ball.
During World War II, she met James Edgar Maloy in Germany, where they were married July 11, 1948, in Ulm, Germany. Mr. Maloy died July 10, 1996.
Surviving are a son and caretaker, Hal Ernst Maloy of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Barbara L. (Weldon) Buell of San Antonio, Texas; a grandchild, Rich Maloy; a stepgrandchild, Traci; and a stepgreat-grandchild, Abbey.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a son, Richard J. Maloy; a brother, Harry Damerow; and a sister, Edith Radachy.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., the time of services, Saturday, March 6, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
