Edna Mae Lightner

Edna Mae Lightner, 86, of Washington, died Monday, April 26, 2010, in her residence. She was born on January 7, 1924, in Metz, WV, a daughter of Merlie C. and Sadie Lou Wilson McVicker. Mrs. Lightner was a homemaker and a member of the Broad Street Baptist Church. She had attended Nineveh High School. Mrs. Lightner was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Claysville. She was active in the youth group and other church activities. She was a vacation Bible School teacher and Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Lightner enjoyed gardening and playing cards with friends. On June 21, 1941, she married Ralph Daniel Lightner, who survives. They had celebrated 67 years of marriage. She was the best! Surviving is a daughter, Carol Elizabeth (David) Stewart, of Washington. Deceased is a brother, Lawrence Leon McVicker. Friends will be received on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, Services will be held in the Church of Christ, 700 Allison Ave., Washington, at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 30, with Pastor Jay Freudenberg officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens.
