Mary Evelyn McDaid, 82, of Butler, formerly of Eighty-Four, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Washington County Health Center.
She was born on February 21, 1928, in Finleyville, a daughter of John and Mary Milhoan Powell.
Mary was a homemaker, who greatly enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren. Activities that she enjoyed included playing games, swimming and family vacations at the beach.
She had been an active member of Hillcrest Presbyterian Church of America, in Volant, PA, in which she had a heart for children ministering through VBS and other children’s programs.
Mrs. McDaid was a graduate of Trinity High School.
On September 23, 1950, she married William Edgar McDaid, who died on November 28, 2003.
Surviving are a son, William Bruce (Rita) McDaid, of Butler; a daughter, Linda Marie McDaid, of Canonsburg; 2 brothers, John L. and Robert Powell; 3 sisters, JoAnn Mounts, Lila King and Ginny Lusk; 3 grandchildren, Janice Lea Kubacki, Julie Ann Hollerman and Justin Aaron McDaid; 6 great grandchildren, Zachary Bachman, Aubrey and Tyler Hollerman, Kaitlyn Kubacki, Bryson Hollerman and Fynnegan McDaid.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, is a brother, David Powell.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday, April 30, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, LTD., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, PA. Services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., in the Church of Christ, 700 Allison Ave., Washington, PA., with Pastor Paul Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
