Evelyn R. Shanor, 81, of Hopewell Township, died Monday, March 9, 2009, in her residence.
She was born December 25, 1927, in Washington, a daughter of Charles L. and Daisy V. Lindley Ringer.
Mrs. Shanor worked as a packer at Hazel Atlas #1 and #2 for 35 years.
She was a huge Gene Autry fan and loved her dog, Cotton.
On April 2, 1954, she married Norman “Bud” Shanor, who died January 1, 2006.
Surviving are a stepson, Dr. N. Wayne (Kathryn) Shanor of Washington; a brother, Melvin Ringer of East Finley; two sisters, Wilma (Dave) Wingrove of Washington and Ethel Morris of Claysville; and great-niece, Kristen Martin, who was her caregiver for the last several months.
Deceased are three brothers, Charles, Jay and Norman Ringer; and a sister, Catherine Hall.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, March 13th, with Pastor Ron Ringer officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
