William George Dicks

Rev. William George Dicks, 73, of Washington, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008, in Sarasota Memorial Hospital, in Sarasota, Florida, following a brief illness. He was born May 26, 1935, in Washington, a son of Clarence Herbert and Helen Marie King Dicks. Rev. Dicks was a minister at First Baptist Church of Carmichaels for five years, and Grace Baptist Church in Grindstone for five years. Rev. Dicks worked at Washington Steel, as a millwright, for twenty-eight years. He was also a Pennsylvania State Constable. He was member of the Southern Baptist Convention, as a church planner; and was a member of the North Franklin Volunteer Fire Department. Rev. Dicks enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling in his R.V., singing, and going out to dinner. On July 16, 1962, he married Judith Ann Bedillion, who survives. Also surviving are a son, William George (Charlynne) Dicks II, of Brownsville; a daughter, Lori Ann (Don Head) Davis, of Leland, IL; a brother, Francis (Jean) Dicks; five sisters, Helen Jean Kelley, Clara (Cecil) Anderson, Alberta Lunn, and Mary Kania, all of Washington, and Margaret “Peg” (Robert) McVehil,of Beaver Falls; and two grandchildren, Paul William and David Lee Head. Deceased are an infant daughter, Michele; a brother, Clarence (Bud) Dicks; and two brothers, Herbert, Lewis and a sister, Jane, who died in childhood. Friends will be received Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
