Jennie Lucille Phillips, 87, of Washington, died Monday, December 28, 2009, in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness.
She was born September 22, 1922, in Banetown, a daughter of Timothy and Victoria Breese Bennett.
Mrs. Phillips was a 1942 graduate of Trinity High School and worked in the cafeteria of Trinity Middle School.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and an active member of Parkinson’s Support Group at Washington Hospital.
Mrs. Phillips was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed sewing.
On August 10, 1942, she married William Phillips, Jr., who survives.
Also surviving are a son, William T. (Patsy) Phillips; a daughter, Bonnie (Tom) Wheeler; three sisters, Ruth Glover, Nelle Watson and Donna Bryner, all of Washington; three grandchildren, Cindy Bonus, Erica Wheeler and Pamela Phillips; and four great-grandchildren, Sammy Maloy, Constance Maloy, Liam Wheeler and Isabella Bonus.
Deceased are a brother, William Bennett; and two sisters, Luella Jones and Evelyn McKahan.
Friends will be received Noon to 2 p.m., the hour of service, Thursday, December 31st, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, with Pastor Linda Mankey officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
