Gladys R. Condit, 93, of Washington, died Monday, January 4, 2010, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care.
She was born August 26, 1917, in Amity, a daughter of the late James William and Margaret Caton Roche.
Mrs. Condit graduated from Washington High School in 1935. She was employed as a cashier at the Basle Theater before becoming office manager for the Chamber of Commerce, retiring in 1981.
Mrs. Condit was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, James H. (Willa) Aurouze of Waldorf, Maryland, and Gary W. (Daniele) Aurouze of Pomona, California; a brother, Paul Roche of Washington; four grandchildren, James Aurouze, Jr., Karen Lee Strait, Luke Pierre Aurouze and Christianne Aurouze; a great-grandchild, Michael James Strait; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her first husband, Harry J. Aurouze; her second husband, George C. Condit, who died in 1995; a brother, James Roche; and a sister, Mary King.
Friends will be received 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 8th, in Church of Christ, 700 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Larry Wiltrout officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
