Joseph Frank Vucic, Sr., 74, of Washington, passed away Monday, October 26, 2009, in Donnell House, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 19, 1935, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Michael L. and Rose Napiericz Vucic.
Mr. Vucic was a baker and co-owned Joe’s Bakery with his son since 1981. In addition to baking delicious cakes and rolls, he had developed several recipes that resulted in “the best donuts in town.”
Mr. Vucic was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Washington Elks #776 and LOOM #22.
He enjoyed being with his family and hosted many family gatherings over the years.
Mr. Vucic was a seventeen-year transplant survivor.
On January 28, 1956, he married Elizabeth J. McCracken, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Joseph Vucic, Jr., of Washington, Thomas Vucic of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Michael (Tracie) Vucic of Washington; three daughters, Denise (Michael) Dhans and Darlene (David) Myers, both of Washington, and Deanne (Steven) Duchek of Vanderbilt; two sisters, Rita Rose Vucic and Julie Hawan, both of Monroeville; eight grandchildren, Thomas, Jr., Trevor and Timothy Vucic, Michaelene Vucic, Michaela and Mackenzie Dhans, and Amanda Duchek and Steven Duchek, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Noah Hilverding, Lilly Anna Vusic and Braden Vucic; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sisters, Irene Graczyk and Carmella Lorkowski; and a brother, Michael Vucic.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., the time of service, Thursday, October 29th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Private burial in Washington Cemetery will be held at a later date.
