Edith M. Gisoni, 85, a lifelong resident of Washington, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, in Donnell House, following a four-month illness.
She was born March 24, 1924, in Washington, a daughter of the late Michael and Donata DeCarlo Altieri.
Mrs. Gisoni was a clerk at Washington Importing for 53 years.
She was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Church and Catholic Daughters of America.
Mrs. Gisoni enjoyed spending time with her family.
On November 21, 1950, she married Michael Gisoni, who died July 9, 1999.
Surviving are a brother, Patrick Alterio; a sister, Dolores Abbondanza, both of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four sisters, Mary Mahramus, Anna Alterio Avolia, Alveria Vargo and Esther Alterio; and three brothers, Louis Alterio, Daniel Alterio and Dominic Altieri.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 14th, in Immaculate Conception Church. Entombment to follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. The Catholic Daughters of Immaculate Conception Church will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
