George John Murin, 53, of Washington, died unexpectedly on Sunday, November 29, 2009.
He was born in Washington on November 10, 1956, a son of John A. and Ann Gersna Murin.
Mr. Murin worked as a security guard for NSA Security forces, and had been a firefighter for the City of Washington for 23 years, where he retired as an engineer in January, 2007.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Mr. Murin attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and JFK School. He was a 1974 graduate of Washington High School. Mr. Murin was graduated from Geneva College in 1978 as a history major. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
On May 6, 1995, he married Nancy Platter, who survives.
Also surviving is a son, Grant Alexander George Murin and a daughter, Grace Elizabeth Murin; 2 brothers, Tom (Robin) Murin, of Washington and Dave (Nancy) Murin of Scott Township; 2 sisters, Donna (Pete) Moniodes, of Canonsburg and Patricia (Mark) Wheeler, of Tridelphia, WV; and nieces and nephews, Matthew (Jessica) Golden; Lauren Golden; Lindsay and Lacey Platter; Natalie and Arlene Wheeler; Pamela and Ann Moniodes; Nathan, Jacob, Tyler and David Michael Murin.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at William G. Neal Funeral Homes., Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., with Father Nicholas Spirko as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery. The Knights of Columbus Council 1083 will recite the Rosary on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
