Vesta Mildred Newland

Member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church Vesta Mildred Newland, 96, of Washington, died Monday, December 7, 2009, in Presbyterian SeniorCare. She was born August 3, 1913, in West Virginia, a daughter of Dwight and Automay Henline Haddox. Mrs. Newland worked as a waitress at the George Washington Hotel for 25 years. She was a member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church. Her husband, Vance Newland, is deceased. Surviving are a daughter, Teresa Fetherlin Herschell of Washington; a sister, Midge Bailey of Pontiac, Mich.; three grandchildren, Jacque Ondash, Chrystal Glover and Dr. Amy Herschell Mowry; seven great-grandchildren, Kenneth Glover Jr., Amanda McCoy, Stephen Ondash, Danielle Ondash, Chelsea Glover, Nicholas Glover and Lucas Mowry; and a great-great-grandchild, Lauren McCoy. Deceased are a brother, Hubert Haddox; and three sisters, Edith Reese, Lula Mae Fox and Julia Phelps.
