Church member, volunteer was Brownson House secretary. Shirley Jean Reynard, 77, of Washington, died Monday, November 16, 2009, in Washington Hospital. She was born July 13, 1932, in Canonsburg, a daughter of George M. and Marjorie Howard Reynard. Ms. Reynard was a high school graduate and attended Penn Commercial for two years. She was a member of Meadow Lands United Methodist Church, where she was a member of United Methodist Women's Society and chairman of the Pastor's Chair Committee. She also was a member of Osteogenesis and Imperfecta Foundation, Open Doors for the Handicapped, chairwoman of Mayors Commission For Disabled, Washington Transportation Committee For Disabled and was on the advisory committee for the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. Ms. Reynard was a volunteer for Relay For Life. She had worked for Easter Seal Society as a secretary, Brownson House for 50 years as a secretary/receptionist, J.C. Penney in the catalog department and United Cerebral Palsy. Surviving are two brothers, Paul Reynard of St. Louis, Mo., and George Reynard of Washington; and a sister, Ruth (Jack) Pilgun of Washington. Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a sister, Jane Nicholls. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 19, in Meadow Lands United Methodist Church, 535 Pike Street, Meadow Lands, with the Rev. Jeffrey Conn officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Meadow Lands United Methodist Church, 535 Pike St., Meadow Lands, 15347.
