James Michael Flaherty, Jr., 75, of Washington, died Sunday, April 12, 2009, in his home.
He was born January 9, 1934, in Crafton Heights, a son of James Michael Flaherty, Sr. and Anna Saville Flaherty.
Mr. Flaherty was an elevator mechanic with Industrial and Commercial Elevators for thirty-five years.
He was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church.
Mr. Flaherty was very mechanically inclined; he enjoyed woodworking and golf.
On June 14, 1969, he married Aldine Swiger, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, James M. Flaherty, III and Melissa, of Robinson Township, two stepsons, Aaron Hupp, of Washington, and Alan Hupp and Brenda, of Canonsburg; a daughter, Marsha L. Flaherty, of Providence, RI; five sisters, Betsy Flaherty, of Crafton Heights, Jamette Miller, of Westwood, Elaine Abernathey, of Crafton Heights, Carole Davey, of Greentree, and Sondra Flaherty, of Crafton Heights; and 10 grandchildren, Brian, Lloyd, Jocelyn, Carly, Ashley, James M., IV, Matthew, Kristen, Katie, and Johnny; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a grandchild, Michele.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009, with Rev. John Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. The family suggests memorial contributions to Donnell House, c/o The Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
