Helen Louise Donel

Helen Louise Donel, 86, of Washington, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in Washington County Health Center. She was born January 16, 1923, in Washington, a daughter of Bemis and Margaret Ann VanKirk White. She and her sister, Jean, were raised by their grandmother, Clara VanKirk. Mrs. Donel was a dietician at Washington Hospital for 13 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed quilting and loved animals, especially dogs. Her husband, James Donel, died November 28, 1986. Surviving are two sons, David R. (Terri) Donel of Washington and George A. (Donna) Donel of Brandon, Florida; a sister, Jean Allen of Washington; four grandchildren, Kevin Donel, Traci McDonald, Tim Donel and Ginger Donel; two great-grandchildren, Makenzie McDonald and Blake McDonald; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., the hour of service, Friday, April 17th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
