Edna Barclay Miller, 89, of Prosperity (Dunns Station) entered heaven on Friday, October 30, 2009.
Mrs. Miller was born on August 29, 1920, in Carmichaels, a daughter of Israel and Erma Debolt Barclay.
Mrs. Miller graduated from Carmichaels High School in 1938.
In addition to raising her family and homemaking on the family farm, she held positions at J.C. Penneys and Troutmans Department Stores, and served as director of the Lemoyne House in Washington.
She also served on the Morris Township election board, was active in the Morris Township and Washington County Historical Societies, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Washington Current Events Club.
Mrs. Miller loved to read, enjoyed sewing, needlework and gardening, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Penguin fan.
She attended Amity United Methodist Church and West Union Presbyterian Church.
On February 10, 1940, she married the love of her life, Watson Phillips Miller, who passed in 1982.
Surviving are her children, Marilyn Pfisterer (Clyde) of Indianapolis, IN, Clark Miller, of Dunns Station, Barbara Heastings (Richard) of Washington, David Miller (Suzanne), of Blacksburg, VA, and Sandy Talbott (Scott) of Bethel Park; loving niece, Joyce Cooper (Lori), of Butner, NC, and nephew, Jerry Cooper (Betty) of West Union.
Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren, Linda Newman, Mike Newman, Mark Newman, Brandy Dziak, Jessica Gromley, Shelby Miller, Joanna Liesl Zollars, Stephen Dragan, Dan Miller, Kerry Ellis, Lauren Miller, Doug Miller, Aaron Talbott, Ethan Talbott, eighteen great grandchildren, one great, great, grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Claire Hathaway of Carmichaels, and Martha Metroka, of Riverside, CA., also survive.
Deceased are a son, Gregory Alton Miller, who passed away shortly after birth in 1955; her siblings, William Barclay, Ruth Hall, Alma Barclay, Charles �Chuggie� Barclay, Marjorie Cooper, Anabel Hoge, and Jack Barclay.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 E. Maiden Street, Washington. Additional visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 am., Monday, November 2, 2009, in Amity United Methodist Church, 644 Amity Ridge Road, Amity, with Rev. Lois Swestyn officiating. Burial will follow in Amity United Methodist Church Cemetery.
