Robert Bradford “Smitty” Smith, 83, of Washington, died Friday, November 6, 2009, in his residence. He was born September 16, 1926, in Coraopolis, a son of the late Harry Bradford and Sararose Peters Smith. Mr. Smith graduated from Coraopolis High School in 1947 and was a land surveyor for Gavlick Construction for over 55 years. He was a member of L.O.O.M., past president of the Arden Club, and a lifetime member of Washington Country Club. Mr. Smith enjoyed Pittsburgh sports as well as harness racing. He owned several racehorses, most notably “Iron City Smitty.” He was a member of Coraopolis Methodist Church. On June 27, 1964, he married Jacquelyn Jo Mosier, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Rebecca (Joe) Kolter of Mt. Lebanon, Bonnie Jo (Ben) Rankin of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts, and Tracy Lynn (Michael) Tush of Washington; a sister, Marjorie Smith of Coraopolis; and three grandchildren, Jason (Erin) Kolter, Laura Rankin and Alex Tush. Deceased is a sister, Agnes Elizabeth “Aggie” Smith. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 9th. Members of Loyal Order of the Moose will hold services at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, 6507 Wilkins Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15217; or to Citizens Library, 55 South College Street, Washington PA 15301.
