Janet Louise Shoemaker, 76, of Washington, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, in The Washington Hospital, following a seven-year illness.
She was born April 13, 1933, in Claysville, a daughter of John and Artie Henry Hancher.
Mrs. Shoemaker graduated from Claysville High School. She was protestant by faith and was a homemaker.
She enjoyed playing bingo.
On May 23, 1971, she married Charles Shoemaker, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, John Joseph (Michelle) Cortazzo; a daughter, Vivian Salisbury, both of Washington; and her beloved grandchildren, who meant the world to her, Courtney and Kelsey Cortazzo, and William (Rebecca) Salisbury.
Deceased are twelve brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009, with Rev. George Plants officiating. Burial will follow in West Finley Cemetery.
