Robert Boyd Taylor, Sr., 73, of Washington, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009, in the Donnell House, Washington.
He was born March 7, 1936, in Lone Pine, a son of George and Elizabeth Frazee Taylor.
On March 9, 1953, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps, and for his service was awarded the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged April 25, 1957.
Mr. Taylor was a shuttle car operator at Beth Energy Mine in Eighty Four, for twenty-five years. Prior to Beth Energy, he worked at R & P Coal.
He was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church.
Mr. Taylor was a life member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of Moose Lodge #22, Arms Club, Polish Club and Slovak Club.
In November 1996, he married Lena Clutter, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Heather Lee Sandmann, of San Francisco, California; two step sons, Douglas Staggers and Robert Bistle, both of Washington; a step daughter, Sue Swan, of Washington; two grandchildren and six step grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, Robert B. Taylor, Jr.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 7, 2009, with Rev. John Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery, McMurray. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
