Donald W. Rogers 79, of Washington, died on Saturday, December 5, 2009, in the Washington Hospital. He had been in declining health for several years.
He was born in Canonsburg, on August 21, 1930, a son of Clyde V. and Marie Alexander Rogers.
Mr. Rogers worked at Brockway Glass in the mailroom for 34 years.
He loved music, and was a very well known and accomplished guitarist, playing with various local bands.
He attended Emmanuel United Presbyterian Church.
On October 7, 1978, he married Ferne Walker, who survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Judith Rogers Cameron, of Scottsdale, AZ; 3 brothers, William, Dennis and David Rogers, all of Washington; 2 grandchildren, Todd Foor and Michael McClain; and 2 great grandchildren, Justy and Alex.
Deceased are three brothers, Herschell Rogers, who was killed in action in World War II; Calvin and John Rogers.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., at Emmanuel United Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Emmanuel Church Cemetery.
