Joanna Braden Schott, 94, of Washington, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in The Washington Hospital. She was born on June 28, 1915, in Washington, a daughter of Charles Edward and Sarah Alice Paul Braden. Mrs. Schott worked as a cashier at the George Washington Hotel, from 1934 until 1936. She was a secretary at the PA Department of Transportation, from 1938 until 1941. Mrs. Schott was a social studies teacher at the Washington High School from 1951 until 1981. She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church and the First Lutheran Church. Mrs. Schott graduated from Washington High School in January, 1933. She attended Washington Seminary from 1934 until 1936, and was a 1938 graduate of Thiel College, Greenville, PA. On August 29, 1941, in Washington, PA, she married Rev. Kenneth N. Schott, who died on February 14, 1949. Surviving are 2 sons, Rev. Kenneth Neal “Doc” (Diana Ruth Evans) Schott, II, of Washington and John Edward (Susan Marlene Smith) Schott, of Dundee, MI; a daughter, Karen Sue Schott (George Eugene) Zubrod, of Salem, VA; 9 grandchildren, Jennifer Joanna Zubrod Taylor, Charles Thomas Schott, Laura Elizabeth Schott Piecknick, Lucas Andrew Zubrod, Jeffery Paul Schott, Kenneth Neal Schott, III, Emily Anne Schott, Timothy James Schott and Jonathan Mark Schott; and 8 great grandchildren, Madison Alexis Piecknick, Joanna Christine Taylor, Kyle Thomas Piecknick, Samantha Renee Schott, Kaeleigh Ann Schott, Alexandra Michelle Taylor, Braden Paul Zubrod and Noah Tyler Schott. Deceased are 3 sisters, Thelma Irene Braden Caldwell, Esther Romaine Braden and Mary Elizabeth Braden Crispin and 2 brothers, Edward Boyd Braden and Glenn Arthur Braden Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden St., Washington, and on Saturday, from 10 to 11:00 a.m., at the First Lutheran Church. Services will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the First Lutheran Church, with The Rev. Dr. Kenneth N. Schott officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the First Lutheran Church, 92 West Walnut Street, Washington PA.
