Francis William Funaro, Jr., 64, of Washington, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, in the Donnell House. He was born December 5, 1944, in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of Francis William, Sr., and Amelia Arcuri Funaro. Mr. Funaro was a restaurateur, having owned several pizza shops in the Pittsburgh area. Mr. Funaro was Catholic by faith. He was a graduate of St. Vincent De Paul School, and was a member of the Pittsburgh Association for the Deaf. He enjoyed watching movies. Surviving are three sons, Francis J. Funaro, of Dallas, Texas, Michael W. Funaro, of Washington and Joseph H. Funaro, of Pittsburgh; a brother, Stephen Bardano, of Allentown, PA; a sister, Mary Rose Funaro, of Crafton, PA; a stepson, James Michael Akridge, and a stepdaughter, Jennifer Denise Akridge, both of Pittsburgh; and 11 grandchildren. Friends will be received Wednesday from 4 to 6:00 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a Blessing Service will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2009, with Father Thomas D. O'Neil as Celebrant.
