Andrew James Bombash, Jr., 84, of Claysville, died Saturday, April 24, 2010, in his home, following a five year illness.
He was born January 23, 1926, in Deerborn, Michigan, the son of Andrew J., Sr. and Marion Robinson Bombash.
Mr. Bombash entered the U.S. Navy on April 11, 1944, serving during World War II. For his service he was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, Pacific Theater Ribbon, and European Theater Ribbon. He was honorably discharged May 20, 1946.
He was a plumber and was employed locally in various businesses for thirty-five years. Prior to moving to Claysville, he worked at Whitaker Plumbing in Florida.
Mr. Bombash was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of Taylorstown, Post 945, of the American Legion.
He enjoyed his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed doing word search books.
On October 27, 1952, he married Elizabeth Ann Connors, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Andrew J., III and Joy Bombash, of Canonsburg, Richard and Tomoko Bombash, of Japan, and Christopher Bombash, Sr., of Washington; two daughters, Mary and Leonard Bercosky, of Marianna, and Barbara Bombash, of Claysville; nine grandchildren, Timothy, Patrick, Junko, Melinda, Christopher Bombash, Jr., Heather and Russell Bercosky, Elizabeth and Kayla Durbin: as well as five great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Blessing Service will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of Christ, 700 Allison Avenue, Washington. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
