William Harry Crosier, Jr.

William Harry Crosier, Jr., 74, of Washington, died Saturday, March 13, 2010, in the Washington Hospital following a brief illness. He was born February 23, 1936, in Washington, a son of William H Crosier, Sr. and Myrtle Mae Mason Crosier. Mr. Crosier graduated form Washington High School in 1954 and attended Washington and Jefferson College. In February 1996, after 43 years of service, he retired from the United States Army Reserves and the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania with a rank of Sergeant Major. Mr. Crosier was also retired from Washington Steel Corporation where he worked as a foreman for 31 years. He was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church, Sunset Lodge 623, L.O.O.M., where he served as a trustee, SOAR – Steel Workers Organization of Active Retirees, and the Retired Enlisted Association. Mr. Crosier was an Eagle Scout and involved with Boy Scouts of America. He also was the club leader for Frazier-Simplex Junior Rifle Club for over 10 years. On July 2, 1957, he married Verna L. Kennedy, who survives. Also surviving are a son, William J. (Lisa Denny) Crosier of Washington; a daughter, Brenda D. (Frank) Gundersen of Cranberry Township; three grandchildren, Benjamin Crosier, David P. Gundersen and Emily Gundersen; and one sister, Marjorie “Babe” McMullen of Coraopolis. Deceased are six sisters, Harriot McKinney, Pansey Jones, Nell Jeager, Betty Ott, Cora Pierce and Myrtle Thomas; and two half brothers, Emerson and Norman Spicer. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, and, 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, Tuesday, March 16th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. m
